2015 Frankfurt AutoShow Brought the New Generation to Light

September marked many important events: The refugee crisis got bigger, the Blood Moon rose over the sky and Frankfurt opened its doors for the 66th edition of IAA – Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung. The biggest Auto Show of the year marked the beginning of a new technological era in terms of engines, power and car features.

To better explain how impressive the 2015 Frankfurt AutoShow was, I chose four cars which highlight the new trends in terms of speed and finesse.

AUDI Still Surprising Us After All This Time

The German brand presented its new concepts, coming in with guns blazing. The new S4 model with 354 horsepower surprised everyone with the details and the improvement of the already high-quality engine. Manufactures say the car will be ready for its European distribution in 2016, but America won’t get a glimpse of it on its highways until 2017.

Probably better than the S4 is the revolutionary concept of Audi e-tron Quattro. It is estimated that Audi will begin production of this brand new SUV in early 2018, bringing to light three electric motors with a total of 429 hp, with a possibility of raising the power to 496 for short periods of time.

What really caught my eye was the lack of side mirrors, which apparently will be replaced with cameras to decrease wind drag.

Lamborghini and Bugatti Opening New Horizons

First of all, the Italian brand brought the new Huracan Spyder at the 2015 Frankfurt AutoShow, which rides on 610 horses and gets from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds.

On the other hand, Bugatti made a dream come true, but only half. The Vision Grand Turismo Conceptwas presented as the new featured car in the PlayStation game with the same name. Although it is only a prototype, the Gran Turismo represents a way to introduce the new Bugatti language.

It was also thought as a celebration of Veyron, given the fact that its production cycle is coming to an end and all 450 cars are now accounted for.

Bentley’s New Line at the 2015 Frankfurt AutoShow

The new Bentayga model opens the line of ultra luxury SUVs that Bentley is now ready to produce. With a power of 600 hp and reaching 60 mph from zero in just 4 seconds, Bentayga is thought to be the fastest, most powerful SUV on the planet at the moment.

The car reaches a top speed of 187 mph and it is considered a new standard for the next generation of SUVs, which Lamborghini, Maserati and Rolls-Royce are thinking about implementing themselves.

Porsche Shows The Future of Connected Cars

Porsche unveiled its connected electric sports car concept: Mission E , which turned out to be one of most popular attractions of the show.

Packing 600 horses, it reaches from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds while still keeping its Porsche driving dynamics.

The car is fueled by a 800-volt system which is lighter and charges faster than those used in Tesla Model S. The car gets to 80% recharged battery in 15 minutes. That’s some next level stuff!

The features on the car are futuristic too. The navigation and the phone will be controlled by hand gestures and eye tracking. Also, there is a little thing in the rear view mirror called an emotion meter, which will measure the driver’s level of fun and enjoyment and save data for you to share on social media.

In the end, the entire showroom was full of new technology and creativity. It is safe to say that the 2015 Frankfurt AutoShow showcased new milestones in the development of vehicles.
