So who came up with the connected car anyway?

It’s a connected car madness out there, I’m telling you. Google, big companies that manufacture cars, phones, and entrepreneurs, they’re all shifting their attention towards developing self-driving cars.

The society we live in calls for some changes

At first, a connected car had a basic Bluetooth connection. Nothing too extraordinary, or complicated. Fortunately, companies acknowledged the fact that there were many more opportunities for them to take advantage of. Than, they implemented the Internet connection, and so it began.

The answer to the title of this article is really simple: WE made possible the connected car. Today’s society is always on the move, but at the same time, people feel the need to be connected to their friends, and family. Besides our smartphones, which we are connected to anyway, most of our time is spent in cars, in traffic. So now, the car is not only a means of destination, but it is transformed into an amazing journey, too.

It’s not about the engine, it’s about how smart the car is

In the last few years, the connected car movement has developed so much, that there’s already a competition on the market (if we can talk about one, so far). Accidents happen for a various number of reasons, but the thing is, most of the time, they are caused by not paying enough attention to the surroundings.

Mark C. Boyadjis, senior analyst and manager of automotive for the Americas at IHS iSuppli, says in an interview that “the vehicle becomes a mobile device that must safely connect drivers to the world around them”. It may be tricky to focus on what’s going on around you, especially when you’re tired. This is where the connected car comes in. The journey becomes more important than the destination itself. We are paying more and more attention towards safety matters now.

A connected car is probably the next car you’ll own

Studies show that car owners buy a new car every 2 years. So, maybe you’ll want to start considering buying a modern car.

We, as the creators of the connected car, hold the future of car technology in our hands. As soon as the demand increases, the price will lower too.

You’re probably thinking that you can’t afford such a car. It’s modern, so it must be high end. But it’s not. Even affordable brands, such as Ford, came up with connectivity features to include in their cars. Soon, it will be a matter of who has the smartest car, not the best engine.

The future is bright

Human beings are capable of so many great things. Who would have thought that at some point, meaning right now, we would be able to buy self-driving cars? There are a lot more things that need to be solved, especially legally wise. The DMV has “approved rules to allow autonomous vehicles on public roads, representing the latest in a string of regulatory moves that ease the path to realizing the full potential of the connected car”, says Alana Jesse in an article.

I can’t wait to see how far this in-car technology will go, and with what new features it will come out. Now, I want to know your opinion on this subject. Does the idea of a connected car seem practical to you? Do you think that it will replace the classic car?
